So in Missouri all Motorcycle plates expire in April, don’t ask me why, it seems crazy to me. It doesn’t cost you any less to register it if you get plates in November, they’ll still expire in April.

Kinja'd!!!

Unrelated pic of the bike from a warm late winter day earlier this year

It’s still cheap (only cost me $24 for a two year) so I guess I don’t really have anything to complain about.

I have an old bike (71 CB500) that is ridden regularly so there is probably a thing or two that can fail safety inspection here if they were being sticklers. Which is why I don’t take my bike to a dealer anymore for inspection. They were more concerned with selling me a new bike so they would find any little thing to fail it on. I’ve found a small motorcycle tire shop nearby that is wonderful. I’ve had them do my inspections for the last couple years. As long as the bike is in good condition with working lights and nothing horrid on it, they’ll pass it.

MotoTire is the name of the shop. If you’re in the St Louis area I’d recommend them highly. They’re the service side of a company that makes Motorcycle tire changers.

“All motorcycle plates expire in April” - That just sounds like the DMV deliberately trying to make itself a miserable place the work

Yeah, it’s strange. All trailer plates expire in December here too. Cars, Trucks, Commercial and even Boats expire on the month you register them. It's cheap, so I don't have anything to really complain about, inspection cost $10, 2 year registration another $24, it's just strange

That reminds me, I need to get a bike, now that I have a garage, here in MO... Good to know about the April registration, though.

That’s crazy, Michigan once you buy a trailer plate, it’s good for as long as you own the trailer. No renewal fee on them.

Good to know, when I get back in town I’ll check them out. I went to big st. Charles last year, an 82 so I could only get one year. I was wondering why it was up when I bought mine around August.

Yeah, missouri weather is hard on an uncovered bike.

Good luck with the hunt. Hope you end up with something fun.

The location I went to is in Fenton. They just opened up another in Weldon Springs if that’s closer to you.

I just went rode in and 10 minutes later had my inspection. It was cold and windy though so they were slow.

The plates are transferable, but good for 3 years on a trailer here. Again, it’s cheap, but they still want your money.

The craziest is the boat registration. You have to have a title for the boat and outboard for it to get registered and they each have to be registered separately.

Another thing about mo is that it’s nearly impossible to obtain a title for a vehicle that doesn’t have one (like an old abandoned truck that hasn’t been registered in 2o years).

In wisconsin motorcycle plates expire in April of every other year, but it is cheaper depending on when you register the bike. I think it was $6 or so when I registered my bike last October, but it was $23 for 2 years this month.

I had a friend who grew up in Missouri and he always said, they don’t call it misery for nothing.

Yeah, that’s what my Wife says. I generally like the area, she grew up elsewhere though.
